Subject:ENG101
March 4,2014
Dear Dr.Usree,
English 101 was a subject that I feel a fried to take it as the first semestar.when the class began and I saw all student are not native English language I said in my self that is great idea that they put the international student in one class to make it essayer for us. I like how the class going with materialize. I like the syllables paper that you gave us in the first class. It is a great guide for me. Also it is help me by knowing what we will take in the class and allow my to be part of class by participate. For example, when you ask about some difficult word in the article that we have been read and I answer the question. Other things that make me feel interested to come to class every day is to sit with a new classmate and speak with English with her or him with out feeling shy. Moreover, this English class make me read a lot which is good practice form my and I like the stories that you gave us. However, the writing is so enjoyable with a good topic. My writing was hard for me but with your and maria help it become easy .I feel my writing development just by wrote 900 word . Somethings I would like to be in class is group work :like what we done in writing center .
The writing center was great place to vista not just once but every time that I have any kind of writing. I like writing center and their way for helping student .They have a verity of time to help which is good also the way that help great. I like the organization there they are in time .For example, when I went there there was busy they said to me after 15 mints and before that they started with my .the workers are so friendly and helpful. I suggest to make every day appointment schedule to make it easy to student and for workers finally,Iam so excited to learn more English and be one of your favorite student.
Best Regards,
Laila Alkhamees.

Essay#1

My Challenges with English Language English language is one of the most important languages around the world and it is one of the requirements to get a job in Saudi Arabia. Studying in U.S.A was too hard to me for many reasons. First of all, studying in free world and coming from Saudi Arabia where you are not allowed to go anywhere without their man (father, brother, husband). I start thinking about coming to us after I graduated from high school when all university door closed in my face I surprised that happened because I was spend my time studying hard and focusing to get full marks in all subjects and that is what happened. I got 99,99% in the total presented for all subjects .My teachers, my family, and every one said you would be in the best university in Saudi Arabia and you would choose your major but every things worked negatively and I lost my dreams .There was one way just to complete my study and to make my dream, come true: it was coming to US and starting anew. I was in my room just thinking how I would say to my family and what their reaction would be. I did not know if they would accept or refuse. So I went to my family and said that I want go and study in US. Everyone was surprised. They said to my you could not do it .I said no I could. They said that you could not go for one reason you are too emotional person as usual I started crying like a baby and every one was lathing. After that, my father said come with me Layla. I went with hem to his office the lights were low and he was seriously when he said to me are you sure that you want study in US?. I said yes. He was silent for 2 mints and after that he said you could do it Layla. These people going to US and go back are not better than you. I was happy and my heart beaded faster .After 2 months, I came to us and started new life. I was in Denver, Co in the Bridge language center. I remembered my first day there I was losing my way. What should I have to do? How can I speak English without feeling shy? How my life will go with the new culture? So the first day was too hard that I did not understand anything the man was talking about. He was talking about the rule and polices in US and in school and when he was said do you understand. I said yes but actually I did not understand anything. In the second day, they made to us do placement test to make sure which level that I should be in. I was in level 3 and I was surprised that I was not in the first level. Day after day, the classes got harder and the home works were a lot .I remembered myself when I was there. I was just thinking getting “A” anyway even though that I am not understand the writing and reading classes. They were the worst classes in my opinion because the writing and reading in Arabic is too different the way that we write in Arabic is different the sentence structures are not the same in Arabic .Reading class was the most difficult for many reason. First I could not pronounce it the word in right way; I was feel nerves to read in class and feeling shy. Also in same reading types I have to make my voice different than others like the reaction for Surprise or others. The culture is one of the important things that I have to deal with and accept the way that the like one of the funniest things in Denver that everyone talk about football. I remembered one day I was in bus stop. There was a young man said to me hi and how are you. I said I am good and after that he was talking about football and about the goals that Broncos did one night before. I said to him yes they were great yesterday and after that one of my teachers said to us that we have at less know the result after each footballs game. My teachers and I worked serious in whole year to make all my mistakes right, so I worked very hard to make my English better .sitting in my room for more than 4 hours day to studied and reviewed the work that I had in class . Trying hard to make everything complete in the best way and on the time .Reading more and more stories that my teachers advise me to read ,listing to music all the time and thinking about the meaning and write every signal word, practice more and more speaking with my teachers and my American friends, had a lot of the time in volunteering in inability care and work there for 2 days a week to practice English and also to make relationships with anew people .all these ways made my life better in all ways. Right know I can speak, read, write and understand English .I made the first step to make my dream come true by studying English in one year and be different person with a new lifestyle and I graduated from language center from advance level. Right now, I study in IUP and always say in my self I can do it and I will make it. I will make mistakes, and learn from it and complete my long way to make my dream come true by being like native, complete my studies ,and make my name in my family and in my society that there was a women called Layla study abroad and make her dreams and goals come true.
